Chronology and catalogue links — assessed 10-10-2026: See the Institutional Involvement Roadmap (1877–2026) for the date-ordered institution, people and evidence sequence. The reported 1988 Cadw-to-Minister spot-listing letter has its own placeholder at GHF-E152; the original has not been attached to that page as at 10-10-2026. A placeholder records an evidence gap, not the letter’s content or proof of misconduct.

Forensic Assessment — Glamorgan Archives

Scope: archival custody and access concerning the Great House Farm evidence.

1988 council minute lead — record identity still to confirm

The National Archives’ DCVG archival list identifies general Vale of Glamorgan Borough Council minutes DCVG/C/1/33 (June–November 1988) and DCVG/C/1/34 (December 1988–February 1989). These are confirmed catalogue leads for general minutes; this review has not established that a separate Planning Committee / Development Control Committee minute book is among those volumes, nor that Great House Farm or proposed protection of the farmhouse appears in them. Search the general minutes and locate the specific committee series, agendas, indexes, officer reports and appendices. The research question is whether the Council considered retaining/protecting the farmhouse before demolition began in December 1988. A missing entry in one series is not proof that no consideration occurred. The Wiki’s New Archival Leads, section 8.4 records the test; the corresponding outstanding record is M-055 in the Missing Records Register.

D696 — holdings and current priority

Glamorgan Archives holds D696 — Western Ground Rents Ltd records, c.1938–1944. The 11 June 2026 email summary now catalogued at GHF-E106-R52 reported a three-volume collection and recommended cross-searching “Western Ground Rents” with “Thomas” for possible Daniel Thomas agreements. Later catalogue work on the D696 evidence-lead page identifies two rental books and a book of plans. This is an archival search route, not evidence that a particular item relates to Parcel A or changes the title analysis. The D696 work package is currently classified BACKGROUND / PARKED; it should not be labelled a critical priority unless a specific item points to Parcel A, the woodland, VG41, a boundary change or the 1955 taking.

Other relevant holdings

The 11 June 2026 email summary also reports DXJF/64/30, described as a Llandough-juxta-Penarth village-layout sketch by Mrs Nancy Buckler of Great House Farm, c. 1945–1955; DSA/6/1158, 1938 Stephenson & Alexander sale particulars reportedly naming D.J. Jenkins and a £5,500 sale to L.D. Thomas; and no Great House Farm plans listed/deposited in the holdings searched. The sketch is relevant archival corroboration of the person/place association, not independent proof of title or uninterrupted occupation. The DSA transaction remains location-unconfirmed until the particulars and plan establish which Great House Farm is meant; it must not be conflated with the Bute-to-WGR reversionary conveyance. The planning result is an archival record gap, not proof that plans never existed or demolition was unlawful. See R52.

Forensic control test

For every negative search, obtain the actual search scope and retention/provenance explanation. For positive holdings, capture accession data, item numbers, plans, page references and any restrictions. Deposit history may also matter to the discoverability/“new evidence” analysis.

Current finding

As at 10-10-2026, the material reviewed does not establish archival misconduct. The June email summary identifies useful catalogue routes and a reported planning-file gap, but the original email/attachments have not been uploaded to R52 in this update. The identity of the DSA/6/1158 transaction remains unresolved. D696 is a conditional corroboration source and remains parked unless an item-specific lead meets its reopening test.

Human action

Human action: obtain or preserve the original 11 June email and any attachment; record the full catalogue metadata for DXJF/64/30; and inspect DSA/6/1158 and its plan to establish parish, acreage, vendor, purchaser and land identity before adding it to the Penarth title chain. Record the precise search scope and any onward referral for the reported absence of municipal plans. Keep D696 parked unless the catalogue or an inspected item directly ties it to one of the reopening triggers stated on the D696 evidence-lead page.

Acceptance: the source email is retained or the limitation is documented; DSA site identity is resolved or expressly left open; and any further D696 work is tied to a specific property-relevant record rather than the collection’s general existence.

Institutional appearance timeline — linked source index

Coverage rule: this is a chronological navigation map of published Wiki source pages found by searching the current site index for “Glamorgan Archives”. Every event label links directly to the page containing the source. It avoids duplicating source narratives. It records mention/appearance, not culpability. Dates are transcribed from page titles where available; “Date not explicit in title” means the linked source must be consulted. Search indexing is a discovery aid, not proof of exhaustive external coverage. 🕒
