EV-0048 — Daily Telegraph report: 'Open day' to save ancient Welsh house (Ty Mawr, Llandough)

Quotation: “The ownership of the house has been in dispute for 25 years but my family has lived here for more than 400 years and my solicitors tell me I have a valid claim to it.”

Proves: A national newspaper reported that on 15 April 1974 Mrs Mary (Nancy) Williams held a public open day at Ty Mawr against planned demolition, publicly asserting a claim to ownership over two months before pleading ownership in court on 3 July 1974.

Does not prove: Does not prove her ownership claim was valid; The 800-year age, 12 monks, c.1870 armour find, and acquisition in about 1667 are reported tradition or her own account, not established fact. End of cutting lost.
