1982–83 Registration & Opportunity to Object
Issue register. This child page isolates the 1982–83 registration event so the evidence about notice, timing and objection cannot be lost inside the wider ownership narrative.
The point that matters
HM Land Registry’s first registration process is recorded on the Wiki as placing Great House Farm land into BP’s registered ownership in 1982/83. The occupier was still living at the farmhouse. The family’s recorded account is that notice was not received until after Mary Williams died on 26 March 1983, during the family’s mourning period.
The procedural question is therefore precise: what notice was actually served, on whom, when, and what effective opportunity existed to object before the registration became effective?
Evidence chain to assemble
- HMLR application for first registration and presentation date.
- HMLR notice / service record and any acknowledgement.
- Register entries and title plans for the period immediately before and after registration.
- Family correspondence, envelopes, probate or mourning-period evidence establishing when the notice was actually seen.
- Any objection or absence-of-objection record within the HMLR file.
Status: this page records an unresolved procedural issue. It does not claim, by itself, that the registration was legally void or that a particular officer acted improperly.
Separate substantive question: what title supported WA240304?
Notice and service are not the same issue as the underlying conveyancing chain. The new 1983 First Registration: Parcel A Title Basis and Alleged HMLR Mistake examines the 1938 WGR acquisition, the recited but undisclosed 1969 conveyance, the 1971 abstract, the 1975 BP conveyance and the 1983 application. Each original deed and plan must be checked for its actual extent; the current gap is a question for HMLR, not a finding of error or dishonesty.
