1. Plan — month ahead

Open formal evidence-recovery routes for Cadw and HMLR; establish title-file retrieval; ensure failed contact channels are recorded; move the project from general enquiry to case-controlled evidence recovery.

2. Performance — end of month

The month produced two key control results (dated in the table below): direct contact failure at Cadw and the commencement of the HMLR title investigation.

3. Issues, Risks, Concerns

Contact-channel reliability became a measurable risk. The HMLR investigation also carries a deeper dependency: the project cannot test the registration history fully without access to the historic first-registration files and the documents actually used to register the titles.

23 Jan 2026Cadw — FOIFOI request sent to both public Cadw addresses; both bounced

4. Plan Moving Forward / Next Month

In February, follow the HMLR retrieval route, record all holding responses, pursue the National Archives route, and use every institutional answer to identify the next repository rather than closing the issue at the first refusal or redirection.
