Fits with: The 1986–87 defence file may be indexed under “John Loosemore & Co.”, not “Loosemores”. The service company is still active and the firm continued to 2023, when it joined Hugh James, so a custody chain for closed files is plausible.
Cuts against: A name change and a profile line do not show where the 1980s closed files are, or that they survive; solicitors commonly destroy closed files after a retention period. Hugh James in 2026 may not be the same practice as the 1987 firm.
