Fits with: The record shows that by 1996 Western Ground Rents Ltd (the landlord in the 1962 possession order) was a dormant company in the BP group, wound up together with other BP companies from BP House. It bears on reopen-loop ground R4 (BP Pension Trust enforcing the 1962 order in 1974 “as successors in title to Western Ground Rents”) and on whose knowledge can be attributed to whom within the group.
Cuts against: It shows group membership in 1996 only. It does not show when BP acquired Western Ground Rents, or what the companies knew in 1974–1987. The WGR company file (TNA BT 31/87651) would show the shareholders over time.
