Catalogue entry (verbatim): “1958 Nov 19-Dec 11 Verbatim report of proceedings at inquiry: days 20-24”.

The inquiry was sitting (verbatim): Hansard, Commons Written Answers, 18 Nov 1958, Mr H. Brooke (Minister of Housing and Local Government): “I understand that this information is being made available to Mr. Davidson this week, in response to the request he made on 6th November at the public inquiry into objections to the Glamorgan Development Plan.” (Hansard record). That answer concerns a different objector and does not mention Llandough, Ty Mawr or Buckler.

Later Hansard context (added 19 Oct 2026 debrief): Commons Written Answers of 3 Jun 1960, 7 Feb 1962 and 27 Jul 1962 record that approval of the second part of the Glamorgan development plan was delayed, and that the Area No. 2 modifications were still unpublished in July 1962 (summary of the answers as read; the 1962 answer refers to “the delay” causing inconvenience). None of these answers names Llandough, Ty Mawr or Buckler. Whether any of them is the Parliamentary discussion Branwen Buckler remembers is a hypothesis only; it could equally be the Leckwith Common order (EV-0038) or neither.

Why it matters: This volume starts on 19 Nov 1958, the day the Western Mail reports Mrs M. D. Buckler objecting to the industrial earmarking of land below Ty Mawr “under the new county development plan” (EV-0037). If she or anyone else raised Great House Farm at the inquiry, the verbatim record would hold what was said and the replies given.

Cuts against: The match is on dates only. The Western Mail says Mrs Buckler spoke to Glamorgan County Council’s planning committee, not to the Ministry inquiry. Whether she lodged a formal objection or appeared at the inquiry is SOURCE PENDING. Zoning land in a development plan was a lawful public process and is not in itself evidence of wrongdoing.

Proves: The National Archives holds a verbatim record of the Glamorgan (Area No. 2) Development Plan inquiry for 19 Nov – 11 Dec 1958.

Does not prove: That Great House Farm, Ty Mawr or Mrs Buckler appears in it, until the file is read.
