Quotation: “A Survey of the Estates belonging to the Most Honourable John Crichton Stuart Marquess of Bute and Earl of Dumfries in the County of Glamorgan, 1824, David Stewart Surveyor.” Index: “19. Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm”. Table: “Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm / John Gedrick Tent. … Total 107.1.24 … Late Thos. Williams now John Gedrick Tent. … 118.1.23 … Wood … 139.0.18 … [Grand total] 139.3.8”

Proves: In 1824 Bute’s surveyor recorded Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm, Llandough, as plan 19: 139a 3r 8p including 20a 2r 35p of wood, let to John Gedrick (reading), with the late Thomas Williams’s 10a 3r 39p added. The plan shows “The River Ely”, Village of Llandough, Llandough Farm and Wellspring.

Does not prove: Any Williams-family tenancy in 1824, any lease term, or any later boundary. Field names are unread. The “Gedrick” reading needs the archive image.

Catalogue distinction: Tŷ Mawr is not the 166-acre Llandough Farm entry

The National Library of Wales D 219 catalogue separately describes Cydfin Farm or Tŷ Mawr Farm (107 acres; deeds D219/1, 4–5, 8 et seq., 1552–1824) and Llandough Farm (166 acres; deeds D219/9–13, 1824–1832). The latter must not be relabelled as Tŷ Mawr or used as its acreage. Official D 219 catalogue description.

This page concerns the Stewart survey’s own entry and provisional total for “Cedfin or Ty Mawr Farm” (139a 3r 8p, including woodland, as currently transcribed from the photographed table). That is a distinct survey result, not permission to merge it with either D 219 catalogue acreage. Field-level plan and schedule inspection remains necessary. The survey is relevant to place identity and boundaries; it does not by itself prove a 1877 transfer to the Williams family.
