This page follows the wiki’s evidence standard: 1. the evidence (the image), 2. a verbatim transcript, 3. a description of what the item is, and 4. an interpretation of what it shows. Sections 1–3 are meant to be checkable by anyone against the image. Section 4 is open to challenge; corrections are logged under the change-control rule.

DESCRIPTION A search-result extract from the British Newspaper Archive (BNA) for the South Wales Echo of Friday 29 April 1988, as shown by the BNA website: a short run of machine-read text around the search words, with the publication date, title and county. It is not the full article. The text is reproduced exactly as the BNA displays it, including its misreadings and missing punctuation; words that clearly belong to neighbouring stories are noted under Interpretation. 🕒

The screenshot is held in the family’s Google Drive (Screenshot_20250617 series) and the datro repository. The full page can be ordered from the BNA.

Interpretation and wider context

INTERPRETATION Published on the day of the eviction attempt. It gives the Echo’s background: two generations of dispute, three High Court cases lost by William’s mother, and that “in 1974 BP Properties agreed to allow Mrs Buckler to remain in the farmhouse rent free”.

That last phrase is BP’s description of the October 1974 letters. The family’s position is that Mary never accepted a licence. “Three previous High Court cases” does not match the wiki’s record (a 1955 High Court order against Frederick, a 1962 county court order, the 1974 county court action); the figure needs checking against court records.
