DOCUMENTED FACT (court record). The first letter, from BP Pension Trust, recorded an agreed sale to BP Properties; the second, from BP Properties, offered Mrs Buckler (Mrs Williams) a licence to remain. BP Properties then held only a contract to buy; its conveyance is dated 23 May 1975 (E138). The Court of Appeal held the letters made her possession permissive although she never accepted them.

  • Whether Mary replied, and the exact wording of the offer.
  • Why a licence was offered nineteen weeks after her plea of ownership (E135) rather than the plea being tried.
